Visiting the (freezing) Pacific Northwest

Spring break was SO much fun! Tyler and I took a roadtrip to Portland (and the coast) and Seattle. There is just something so great about going on a random roadtrip with no plans, no itinerary, and no hotel reservations. Plus, it's great to have these spontaneous trips before we have kiddos to take care of (which won't be soon, anyway). We had never been to the northwest before so it was pretty cool getting to explore. I will say that I doubt I could stand living there... it rains ALL the time! I'd get seasonal depression right away.

In Oregon, we visited the beautiful Japanese Gardens, the (roseless) rose gardens, the gigantic Oregon Zoo, Forest Park, and of course, Voodoo donut. We also went to the Oregon coast, which was positively freezing. After about 30 minutes of walking on the beach, we were pretty much soaked from head to toe. Overall, Oregon is such a pretty place and I love the greenery. If only it weren't so rainy all the time...

Seattle was a pretty cool city and there was a lot to see. It was raining quite a bit and we looked like wet street rats wandering around downtown. Pike's Market Place was so neat and it was right on the water. If you ever visit Seattle, it's definitely a must-see. We also saw the famous Space Needle, but we didn't go all the way to the top because it was cloudy anyway. We ran into the gum wall by accident. That was a little gross, but I'll admit I was bummed that we didn't have any gum to add to it! Maybe next time.

Thanks Oregon and Washington for being a total blast!

Kelly Brianne

This is my gorgeous best friend, Kelly. She and I have known each other for years and I consider her one of the most beautiful people I have ever met.  We moved to Salt Lake City together, completely on a whim. Since then, life has changed so much and taken us on very different paths. Nonetheless, I love her just the same. She is leaving on August 1st to serve a mission in the Dominican Republic and I honestly couldn't be more proud of her, although I will miss her like crazy.  I love you, Smelly.
